Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have dropped a new music video for their song, Younger and Hotter Than Me, and the timing (to promote their brand new joint album I Said I Love You First) could not be better!
The new video finds Selena grappling with the anxieties of aging, especially as a former partner moves on: “We’re not getting any younger / But your girlfriends seem to,” she sings at one point. While the lyrics contend with this idea in terms of romantic relationships, the music video, directed by Jake Schreier, appears to tackle it from the perspective of a career in the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the couple spoke about making the album, which serves as a kind of chronicle of their current relationship, and everything that led up to it.
“That’s the most intimate I’ve ever been in a studio,” Selena stated. “We did everything from home, and we created it with people that we love.”
