In what is likely the worst case scenario for the New York Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis has reportedly torn his left ACL and will be out for the rest of the season, and well into next season, too. Porzingis brought the crowd at Madison Square Garden to its feet with a sensational dunk over Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Porzingis’ season came to an end on that slam. He crumbled to the Garden floor and it was immediately apparent something seriously wrong happened when Porzingis landed after the dunk. An MRI revealed that the Knicks’ franchise player reportedly tore his left ACL. He left the Garden before halftime of the Knicks’ 103-89 loss to the Bucks and went to an area hospital for further testing. The team announced the results about an hour after the game.
Porzingis will undergo surgery in the near future.
