UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN SportsCenter and gave his side of the Conor McGregor – UFC 200 story. On SportsCenter, White said McGregor has been pulled from UFC 200 because McGregor refused to attend a press conference this week in Las Vegas to promote it.
“Obviously we still have a good relationship with Conor,” White said. “I respect Conor as a fighter and I like him as a person. But you can’t decide not to show up to these things. You have to do it.”
White said McGregor didn’t want to come to the press conference, because he was in Iceland training and didn’t want to interrupt his training for the UFC 200 fight with Nate Diaz on July 9 in Las Vegas. In regards to McGregor’s “retirement,” White stated that only McGregor himself really knows for sure if he has retired.
White added that Diaz is flying to Las Vegas on and they will enter discussions regarding a new opponent. White said there would also be another fight added to the UFC 200 card as well, but did not give a timetable as to when that fight would be announced.
