BREAKING NEWS!
AC/DC has suspended its tour, effective immediately. Frontman Brian Johnson‘s live career may be over, as his doctors have informed him he must stop touring immediately, as he is running the risk of “total hearing loss,” his doctors say. The band is rescheduling the 10 remaining upcoming U.S. dates on its Rock or Bust World Tour.
The band intend to make up the shows “likely with a guest vocalist,” they announced in a statement posted moments ago on their official website.. The affected concerts begin with the band’s March 8th Atlanta show and run through their April 4th appearance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The group will announce more details in the near future and is asking concertgoers to retain their tickets.
AC/DC have been hit by a number of major setbacks since the 2014 release of their latest record, Rock or Bust. Founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young did not record any parts for the LP and did not participate in the ensuing tour after he was diagnosed with dementia His nephew, Stevie Young, has been filling him for him. Then drummer Phil Rudd, who did perform on the album, was arrested on charges of drug possession and threatening to kill a former employee and was replaced with Chris Slade, who had played with the band in the early Nineties, for the tour.
AC/DC was one of the most popular bands in the world with Angus and Malcom Young as the group’s heart and soul, and singer Bon Scott on the mic. On February 19, 1980, Scott died after a night (or lifetime) of heavy alcohol consumption. The members considered disbanding until hiring Brian Johnson to step in as lead vocalist.
