TNT's Revamped Soap Opera Prepares For Season Two ... with the Death of JR Ewing ... and the Possible Return of Pamela Barnes Ewing!
When the gossip made the rounds earlier this month, word was leaking out from behind the scenes at TNT's revamped "Dallas" night time soap opera that producers wanted JR Ewing's funeral to recapture the "must-see tv" feel of the original series.
A source close to the show stated that producers went for the ultimate bombshell at JR's funeral, an appearance by Pamela Barnes Ewing, played by Victoria Principal.
“They’ve tried to get Victoria to come back a number of times, but she hasn’t budged,” the source told The National Enquirer, adding “That’s because she has a multimillion-dollar business to run in Los Angeles ... and she wants to stay close to it ... and ‘Dallas’ is now filmed entirely in Dallas.” Victoria Principal, who is now 62 years old, operates a successful skincare line, Principal Secret, and hasn’t appeared on camera in years. “Producers have assured her that they would do ANYTHING to work around her schedule.”
The original "Dallas" series, which debuted on the CBS Network in 1978, was centered around Principal's character, Pamela Barnes, marrying family enemy Jock Ewing's son Bobby. It was the dynamic performance by Larry Hagman as JR Ewing that shot the series to number one, and Principal left the show in 1987. Her character was never killed off.
Our sources are telling us a deal is close, but still so very far away. While Principal loved working with Patrick Duffy (as Bobby Ewing), and had the utmost respect for Larry Hagman (CLICK HERE to read our story on the death of Larry Hagman aka JR Ewing), she has mixed feelings about reprising the role, even for just one guest shot.
But, we're told, the chances of it happening are better for JR's funeral than for anything else producers have pitched the brunette beauty.
